An unarmed security guard must be licensed in Delaware. In addition, they must also take a certified training course by the state.
Requirements for an unarmed security guard license:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Drug testing
- Complete background check and finger prints
- Must be hired by a licensed company
- Must be a United States citizen or registered resident alien
- No felony convictions or any crime involving the illegal use of weapons
- Must complete a 16 hour certified training course issued by the state of Delaware before applying for license.

- Patrolling and investigation

- Observation and note taking
- Emergency response
- Access control
- Evidence Statements
- Report writing
Application fee is $69 and $20 for identification card fee.

Armed Security Guard Requirements:
- Must have a commissioned security guard license.
- Will need to complete a 40 hour course under an approved instructor.
- Must have been trained in the particular type of firearm that he or she is using.
- A security guard is not to use any items that he or she has not been certified to use.
