In Arkansas, you must apply for a security position with a security company. All training/license is done through the hiring company.
Requirements to become a Security Guard in Arkansas:
- Must be at least 18 year old
- Have good moral character
- Must be a United States citizen or registered resident alien
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No felony convictions
- No acts of fraud
- Drug testing
A basic training is done through the potential employer:
- Role of security guards
- Legal powers and limitations
- Ethics and conduct (including Board rules)
- Patrolling and investigation
- Communication and public relations
- Observation and note taking
- Emergency response
- Access control
- Evidence Statements
- Report writing
Armed Security Guard Requirements:
- A security guard must be commissioned in order to carry a firearm.
- Must be at least 21.
- Must be free of felony convictions (unless a pardon was granted).
- No committed acts which would result in revocation or suspension of a license issued by the Arkansas Board.
- Training in each of the following content areas: weapons and safety, legal limitations of firearm use, and marksmanship/ range safety.
- Qualify on the range.
